THEY'RE WATCHING US, WHY LOVING OUR CURLS MATTERS

THEY'RE WATCHING US, WHY LOVING OUR CURLS MATTERS

}

Mother’s Day has a way of making us reflect, not just on the women who raised us, but on how we show up as mothers ourselves.
At CABELA, our story began with two Mums who were tired of hiding their curls. And like so many of you, a big part of that journey was shaped by the little eyes watching us.

It’s something many of us never gave much thought to - until we did.
The straighteners on the bathroom bench. The sigh in the mirror. The self-deprecating jokes we made about “fixing” our hair before going out.  And then one day, we realise: they’ve been watching.  They pick up on the patterns. They start asking to “tidy” their hair too, or wishing it looked like someone else’s.

But here’s what’s changed in our house:
She doesn’t ask to straighten her hair anymore.
And honestly, that says everything.
She sees her curls being celebrated. She hears the compliments.
But most importantly, she sees me loving her hair and mine, just as they are.
When we stop hiding our curls, our kids learn not to hide theirs either.
Because how can we ask them to love their hair if we’re still at war with ours?
Our children learn how to see themselves by watching how we see ourselves.
And in a world where “straight” is still so often the standard, choosing to embrace our natural curls isn’t just a personal choice, it’s a radical act of role modeling.

We created CABELA so the next generation wouldn’t grow up thinking they needed to tame, hide, or apologise for their texture. Our products are born from love, science, and a very real desire to do better, for ourselves, and for our kids.

So this Mother’s Day - whether you're a Mum, a Daughter, a Nana, or someone finding your way back to your natural self, we hope you take a moment to honour the journey.
Loving your curls isn’t just for you, it’s a legacy.

CABELA
Xx
