Our Privacy Commitment

Cabela is committed to protecting the privacy of your personal information and to complying to the New Zealand Privacy Laws. If you decide to share your personal information, we want to ensure we respect your privacy through this process which includes being transparent with how we will collect, store and disclose use your personal details.

The purpose of this Privacy Policy is to inform how cabela.co.nz (the “Site” or “we”) collects, uses, and discloses your Personal Information when you visit or make a purchase from the Site. This includes the rights of site users and the sites cookie policy.

The Privacy Policy applies in addition to the Terms of Service of our Site.

By using our Site users agree that they consent to:

  2. The collection, use and retention of the data listed in this Privacy Policy.

 

Collecting Personal Information

When you visit the Site, we only collect data that helps us achieve the purpose set out in this Privacy Policy, including certain information about your device, your interaction with the Site, and information necessary to process your purchases. We will not collect any additional data beyond the data listed below without notifying you first.

If you choose not to provide us with the personal data listed below, or if we are unable to collect that data, we may not be able to provide you with certain services or information, or may not be able to carry out an activity you have requested.  

We may also collect additional information if you contact us for customer support. In this Privacy Policy, we refer to any information about an identifiable individual (including the information below) as “Personal Information”.   • Device information
    • Purpose of collection: to load the Site accurately for you, and to perform analytics on Site usage to optimize our Site.
    • Source of collection: collected automatically when you access our Site using cookies, log files, web beacons, tags, or pixels.
    • Disclosure for a business purpose: shared with our processor Shopify.
    • Personal Information collected: version of web browser, IP address, time zone, location, cookie information, what sites or products you view, search terms, and how you interact with the Site.
  • Order information
    • Purpose of collection: to provide products or services to you to fulfill our contract, to process your payment information, arrange for shipping, and provide you with invoices and/or order confirmations, communicate with you, screen our orders for potential risk or fraud, and when in line with the preferences you have shared with us, provide you with information or advertising relating to our products or services.
    • Source of collection: collected from you such as when you create an account, checkout as a guest, sign up to receive marketing communications or participate in market research.
    • Disclosure for a business purpose: shared with our processor Shopify and Survey Monkey.
    • Personal Information collected: First and last name/s, date of birth, billing address, shipping address, payment information (including credit card numbers), email address, phone number and auto fill data.

Text Marketing and notifications

By entering your phone number in the checkout and initialising a purchase, subscribing via our subscription form or a keyword, you agree that we may send you text notifications (for your order, including abandoned cart reminders) and text marketing offers. Text marketing messages will not exceed 10 per month. You acknowledge that consent is not a condition for any purchase.

If you wish to unsubscribe from receiving text marketing messages and notifications reply with STOP to any mobile message sent from us or use the unsubscribe link we provided you within any of our messages. You understand and agree that alternative methods of opting out, such as using alternative words or requests will not be accounted as a reasonable means of opting out. Message and data rates may apply.

    Minors

    The Site is not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not intentionally collect Personal Information from children. If you are the parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with Personal Information, please contact us at the address above to request deletion.

    How to Access, Modify, Delete or Challenge the Data Collected

    If you would like to know if we have collected your personal data, how we have used your personal data, if we have disclosed your personal data and to who we disclosed your personal data, or if you would like your data to be deleted or modified in any way, please contact as at connect@cabela.co.nz.

    Sharing/Disclosing Your Personal Information

    We share your Personal Information with third parties to help us provide our services and fulfill our contracts with you, as described above. For example:

     

    Disclosing your personal information

    We will not sell or rent your personal information to any third party.

    If you have opted in to receive email or print communications from us, we will share your contact information with trusted third parties that work on our behalf to distribute these communications. 

    We also share your contact information with trusted third parties to customise our marketing and advertising.

    We do not authorise third parties to use or disclose your personal information except for the purpose of providing a requested service. We require any third parties to contractually commit to protecting the security and confidentiality of your personal information.

    Behavioural Advertising

    As described above, we use your Personal Information to provide you with targeted advertisements or marketing communications we believe may be of interest to you. For example:

    Using Personal Information

    We use your personal Information to provide our services to you, which includes: offering products for sale, processing payments, shipping and fulfillment of your order, and keeping you up to date on new products, services, and offers.
